(1) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and some state health departments keep a supply of antitoxin against botulinum toxin.(2) The carriage of diphtheria bacteria developed in the presence of normal activity of antitoxic and diminished antibacterial immunity.(3) For example, antitoxins , like tetanus antitoxin, are made by injecting horses with a small amount of the toxin so that the animal produces the antibodies.(4) Human science employs somewhat similar procedures to produce what are called antitoxins , protein antibodies, to certain microorganisms.(5) The pharmacological or biochemical mechanism of this antitoxic action has not yet been proved.(6) It is a very important folk medicine in Taiwan, and is reported to have antineoplastic, antitoxic and immunoenhancing properties, as well as for treating malignancies.(7) Antivenoms and antitoxins can also be administered in this fashion.(8) If these antibodies are effectively antitoxic , the studies could then lead towards molecular approaches for producing human antibodies for therapeutic purposes.(9) It is also highly potent as an antitoxic agent in exogenous poisoning, organic and inorganic.(10) Some antibodies are antitoxins , which directly neutralize any toxins secreted by the antigens.
